Hair Care Tips For Different Hair Types

There are three different hair types: dry hair, oily hair, and balanced or normal hair. Each of them needs a certain kind of attention and treatments. Understanding the type of your hair will make it easier for you to keep it in top condition.

Drying of hair is caused by the poor activity of your oil glands. Considerable time of exposure to the sun, use of harsh shampoo, excessive application of hair products, and hair treatments can contribute to the dryness of your hair. Clogged pores may also be the reason for the dryness because the oil can’t pass through to provide moisture on your hair.

To avoid things worsening up here are some helpful tips to break that dry season off of your hair.

The summer season is one unavoidable culprit, but for everything else, there is always a way to protect your hair from too much heat.

When drying your hair, opt for a gentler and cooler way. Put away the blow-dryer and the curling iron for the mean time and just go for a towel and fan-drying instead. You can also use shampoo and conditioner that has a moisturizer in it. Use products with a hygorospic substance called humectant. This substance attracts and absorbs moisture form the air. This not only keeps your hair hydrated but also protects your hair from drying.

Massage your hair to relax your scalp and open pores. This is important and allows the oil to pass through and keep the hair from getting dry.

But if your hair type is otherwise, meaning oily, different measures must be taken to minimize the oil production on your head.

Hair turns oily because of a dry scalp. A dry scalp tends to excrete more oil from the glands to keep itself moist, and then the excess oil goes to the hair.

To manage your oily hair, use mild shampoo, like a baby shampoo, to wash your hair. Wash your hair daily to remove the oil but try not to wash the scalp because it will just make it drier.

A little vinegar in the water can remove extra oil on your hair. This is called the vinegar rinse; it is one part vinegar and four parts water. You may also use lemon juice for a similar effect and also for a better scent.

Avoid too much brushing, scratching, or rubbing of your hair because it will only trigger the glands on your scalp to produce more oil.

And if you are the lucky type and have balanced hair, then all you have to do is maintain its healthy condition. Managing normal hair is relatively simple. Topping the list would be keeping your hair and scalp clean. Wash your hair and scalp daily and rinse it thoroughly to remove dirt and grease.

Massaging is also beneficial for hair growth. Like for dry hair, massaging will improve blood circulation to the scalp, making it healthier and allowing pores to breathe.

You can also make a home remedy to keep it in its best form. A mixture of two egg yolks in lukewarm water is a good hair conditioner. Cover it with a towel and rinse it after 10 minutes.
