Updated on 05/05/2010

Hello! Welcome back did you enjoy this post? Did you hate it? Unless you tell us we won't know, so go ahead and make a comment on this post and we promise to stop nagging!

Hair grooming is very much popular especially amongst teens. One of the most common tools for grooming hair is brush or fine tooth comb. The fact is that one should always avoid brushing your hair with a fine tooth comb. One has to keep in mind that straightening and detangling hairs can be done much easily especially when your hair is wet. But at the time of brushing your wet hair, one has to apply too much of stress on the hair shaft and so one can easily damage their wet hair easily when combing. This is also applicable when one of using the brush to comb wet hair.

One may have heard of a number of principles like brushing 100 strokes can help maintaining healthy and shiny hair. Starting with hundred strokes is nothing but extra amount of work on your hair. Over brushing or even combing your hair may only leave your hair damaged. One may feel that over brushing leaves your hair shiny but it only weakens the shaft area of the hair so that it can be broken easily. This could result in massive hair loss and lead to baldness.

Hair Shampooing and Hair Loss

Using shampoo may be a good idea but using it very often may not. Avoid shampooing your hair quiet often. Maintain cleanliness may be good but it does not mean that one has to constantly try and use shampoo every day. Using too much of shampoo can in fact strip down all of the proteins and vitamins and promote hair loss. There are a number of other options that can be used to maintain clean hair. You can always try wearing a scarf when traveling so that your hair may not come in contact of dust.

Using the right type of shampoo is also considered as very important to stop hair loss. Before using the shampoo try to check its pH value. Shampoo with pH around 5.5 is always considered as best for your hair as it is not a strong base. Avoid using shampoos that have a conditioner mixed as such products are often considered as very weak for your hair. Try using a stand alone conditioner and shampoo as it is always considered as the best choice.

Avoid using anti-dandruff shampoos. Most of the anti-dandruff stuff contains formaldehyde which is considered as a cancer causing agent. It is also considered as dangerous to our entire system. Most of the anti dandruff shampoo also contain huge amount of selenium sulfate which is a chemical that is best known to cause degeneration of our liver. Most of them also contain certain chemicals that are considered as toxic to our eyes and skin. And the worst part is that none of them tend to work on our dandruff!

Try using a mild shampoo with right pH. Rub the shampoo on your scalp gently and not like tug of war. Try massaging with your finger tips. Avoid your nails as you may damage your scalp.
