Hair Loss due to Ringworm

Each month almost 1 cm of hair strand grows in the scalp and 90% grows at any moment. The remaining 10% is on a resting period and after 3 to 4 months of this phase, it will fall out and will be replaced by new sets of hair strands. On the average, we shed off 100 strands of hair every day which is still considered normal. Others factors such as stress, malnutrition and certain diseases like skin infection such as ringworm in the hair, lupus, and can also be a sign of cancer. All of these contribute to a hair fall on others who tend to shed more than the average.

Even if you don’t have any inclination regarding with this condition, this could also be related to family history or genes. Baldness is common to men than in women. This is the common problem that men are experiencing. Men have their own style in hiding their bald. This is not applicable to the ringworm that has grown in your hair for it may irritate more when it is covered by hair. It will just aggravate the condition.

Causes

Before you can treat the cause of your hair loss, you must know first the main root of the problem to attack it directly. There are so many causes that can trigger this problem to occur. Ringworm in the hair is common in children because they have lower resistance than adults as well as they tend to come to places in almost everywhere which are unsafe that might be the source of the infection. A hot weather causes us to sweat which is an excellent breeding ground for dermatophytes. A body sweat when unwashed can generate fungal infection especially when there is an opening like wound that opens a way inside to invade your body on almost everywhere. If the skin has some minor irritations such as wound or a scratch, dermatophytes will likely have an instant access to form in any particular part of your body.

Symptoms

The ringworm in your hair will give you a noticeable patch in your head could be seen forming. It is a red and scaly patch that goes with intense itching only in the affected area. Literally, ringworm is called by its name because it is round in shape that looks like a ring and was known to be caused by parasite which is worm. The area surrounding the skin gradually swells until it produces some yellow excretion and it weakens the hair around it that causes hair fall. As this continues to spread around the head, it will result to baldness.

Treatment

Attack the ringworm in your hair directly to avoid it from getting worst. It is highly contagious as well as its intense itching will make you suffer. This will keep you awake through the night. It may even cause you to have permanent baldness. To prevent this from happening, you have to seek a professional help from doctors. A dermatologist is the right person to help you regarding with this matter since they specialize in treating skin disorders.

A Selenium Sulfide shampoo will be very helpful in treating the ringworm in your hair. This will cure the problem straight. If you have some allergies to the contents or ingredients, you can ask the doctor for other recommendation that could best replace the medicine.

Vitamins and minerals must be included in your daily diet for the nourishment of the hair. Vitamin A, Copper and Zinc give a strong hold to each strand of your hair. Vitamin E also helps. You can find it in other shampoos that are being sold in the market.

As your hair became stronger and healthier, it can fight the dermatophyte that is killing the growth of your hair.
